(Rules: Uh, common sense people, if you please....)
Ah, the Barrow Downs. Wandering in this illgotten place is a man, dressed in greens and browns, seemingly taking a relaxed, non-stressed pace. He minds not the utter silence of the Downs, nor the fog that seems to be ever present, nor anything else that might give cause to others to quiver in their boots. Nay, he ignores these factors, and continues to walk, towards a barrow in the distance.
The Dunedain was looking for something special: A Numenorean Steel Bow. The bow, hence its name, was made of hollow steel, and on average stood seven feet high. The arrow shafts were made also of steel, and the steel of the Dunedain did not rust (as proven by the Barrow-blades of Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo), so the chances of finding one with arrows in good condition was likely. The only problem: Finding one. Where better to find one than in the Downs?
"Even if I dont find what I'm looking for this trip, it will be worth it to drive out some wights..."

The ranger had heard rumors of strange goings on in the Barrow Downs, and she decided to do a little investigating on her own. From Bree she headed west until she came upon the place of rumors and hauntings. Morwinyon tosses his head as they slowly made there way through the barrows. This ancient land of kings long dead now housed ghostly beings known as Barrow wights. These downs were dangerous and usually avoided by most people. But Wren didn’t consider herself to be most people. She was a ranger with the blood of the Dunedain.
She drew her long grey cloak about her body, and pulled the hood over her head, covering her long brown hair that was tightly bound in a severe braid. She urgered her horse forward and he obeyed, however grudgingly. She kept a sharp eye out for anything unusual. Her intelligent green eyes noticed a man dressed in greens and browns walking towards the nearest barrow.
She rode up to the man, wondering if he needed aid. “Good sir, it is an unusual occurrence to find a lone man wandering through the downs. If I may ask, what is your purpose in this accursed place?”<br>

ooc: hyper! and bored. makes for fun stuff!
bic: Red wandered around, and found himself in the Downs, He didn't care, what more could he lose than his life? He saw two people. "Well that's odd.......Most people run away screaming when I mention the word Down, or Barrow. Lets check it out." He walked up, and hung back, but he didn't have his hood to hide his red hair, so gave up trying to be unnoticed, and walked right up. "Hi." His eyes turned much duller than they were five second before, he preferred people to underestimate him, he could deal with that.

Stopping in his path, Aranarth looked to the two who decided to join him. "Greetings...as for my purpose, I am searching for something...something rare. Very rare. A Numenorean steel bow is what I seek...tell me...why are you two here?"

Red shrugged. "I was walking, and I just found myself here. I saw you two, and decided to see why other where here. I don't know of any steel bow, all the one I know are made of wood, it's better. Steel won't bend like wood, and not to mention the snapback ability, which is what drives the whole arrow. Must be a special bow, but most things from Numenor you find nowadays is special. If you want a good wood bow, I would go with yew on the inside, and cherry on the outside. But, if you find your steel one, you won't need one." He sat down, and used his pack and bedroll for a backrest. He sat up a little, reajusted his sword, then leaned back again.

I am here because of rumors circulationg in Bree. There is a buzz going around the Prancing Pony of strange happenings here in the downs and even beyond. But they all trace back to here.
I came down here to investigate. If something evil is stirring I prefer to meet it head on rather than creep up on me from behind my back. Since you have been down here have you noticed any thing strange?" She asked the man who was looking for the bow.

A snort. "The only thing I have run into down here are wights...and those are good enemies to fight...but I know nothing other than that." His gaze flicks over to Red. "A Numenorean steel bow is superior to wood bows. Wood bows can snap. Hollow steel doesnt."

Red shrugged. "I've only experimented with solid metal. No smith will make it hollow for me. And wood dosn't break, if you know what you are doing. Now, what is this metal bow strung with? I'd like to know that one." He got up, and looked Ranger woman. "And I havent found anything. I've been elsewhere, I'm not a Ranger, so I'm not listening to rumors, or paying attention to strange happenings."

"No smiths can make them anymore...not after the Downfall...for, when Numenore sunk, so did the understanding of the Guild of Weapons Smiths on how to do so...as to what they are strung with, the same as any other bow...I belive. I have never seen one, so I hope to find one."

"Your company is welcome...just beware the wights...they tend to dislike others disturbing them..."

As the man mentioned wights, the ranger drew her long sword from its sheathe. She wanted to be prepared in case any crossed her path.
'I will join you as well, if you have no objections, sir?" The ranger querried. She fell into line behind the young man, letting the man looking for the special bow take the lead. She would bring up the rear, and watch their backs. As they walked, Wren could see fog begin to drift across the downs settling in the low places.

"As you will." The Dunedain resumed his walk towards the barrow, scanning the mists everyonce in a while, but still none the less maintains the path towards the barrow.

Red followed, and also looking through the mists. He got a slightly uneasy feeling, and drew his sword, felling better. He let the point fall, and it almost touched the ground, but he had it well under control.
