Does anyone else think they got Faramir's character horribly wrong in the second movie? I mean, I can understand a director taking liberties with the source material, but if you're going to change a character that drastically, don't bother putting him in the movie at all. It just really frosts my lizard.

Well, it makes sense why he did what he did in the Extended Edition of Two Towers.

I haven't seen the extended version yet, but based on the version I did see, I have to agree with Pinata. Its been a long time since I've read the books, although I do skim through them periodically when I roleplay, but I don't believe Faramir ever tried to take the ring from Frodo. His character was so different from his brother's.

Faramir was probably one of the most resistant to the ring. Mainly because he earlier said he wouldn't take a great weapon of the enemy if he had found it on the highway, and later said something of how men of Gondor do not boast unless they can do the action or die trying, so his honor wouldn't let him even attempt to take the ring. He was also a lot meaner in the movie... and the whole Osgilliath thing didn't make sense...
If you ask me the whole Two Towers movie was messed up, too many liberties taken. I only really noticed things after watching it a second time. I do think the Fellowship was done good, and hope RotK will be. I'm stopping now before an angry mob of people chases me off with pitchforks and torches trying to get me to stop ranting... ;D

See, any time anyone says the movies were innacurate, I agree with them. Because they WERE! And a bunch of the inacuracies aren't even excusable.

Heh heh yeah, I think they did a good job casting him. His character was much better in ROTK. I loved the part where Pippin goes to get Gandalf, so he can save Faramir from being burned alive.

Yeah, but I wish they would've kept Beregond.

I prefer Farimir to Borimer, esp in the movie.
