I'll tell you all right now there is a reason it's reated PG-13, and I'll explain some things, before I start it: 1. This is a story about the street, and has violence, drugs, and abuse in it. (and some langauge, but I took most of it out((*sighs* never will Vanidar truly live again....))) 2. However, it is a story about how the main character, a boy named Gavin dealt with it, and ultimitly stopped the violence, drugs, and abuse found in his home. He fell into darkness and became bad for a while, this is a fantasy, and he got some powers, but he ultimitly rejected the dark, and went back to the light, with the help of a street kid named Vanidar. 3. I don't go into much details on the violence, drugs, and abuse, only that they happened, execpt for in a couple spots, and that's where I describe the fight that happened, and that's pretty much because i have the information. 4. this stroy is based on a forum called The Eternal War, but it goes beyond it. Sadly, the forum is closed, and some of my best posts, and favorite characters are there. I;ve tried to bring back Vanidar, but his mouth was just too foul, and that was one his defining atributes. SO I have to make him cleaner in talking, and it makes him seem almost nice compared to before*sighs* I wish I could make him truly live again. Maybe I'll bug the owner to takign it out of closure, and post with me some. 5. If anyone thinks that this story is too....... ugly then PM me, and I'll most likely move it to a website, and put the link if you wanna look. I'm keeping that this is an all ages site in mind, and am keeping it as clean as the plot allows. I ussually write all ages storys, but this just isn't one. *sighs* SO, I'll start it when I get the next chance!

You couldn't tell anything was wrong by the pictures on the wall. But, the wall they were on was dirty and unkept, and the pictures themselves looked old and outdated. Most of the frames had cracked, but the glass was clean, like thier keeper wished they were true. Their keeper was Gavin Pecker, an eleven year old boy whose world was anything but alright. This is his story, a journey through darkness and shadows, back into the light.
Gavin Pecker was born to a good family, well, they were good when he was born. But they hadn't much money before he came, and had even less after. They were forced to move to one of the slummiest apartemnt sectors in town when Gavin was two. It was close to where Vanidar's territory. Vanidar was a street kid, yet at this time he had just found himself in the street, his stroy already started. Yet that stroy is not this one, though he is more than a passing reference. The legendary street kid will pass through this pale again. But not now, so let us move on. Before they moved, many pictures were taken, of the family smilnig and laughing, happy. So when his father carried in the last package to their small dirty apartment, his mother quickly unpakced them, and hung them on the wall, as if they could ward the hard times fomr happening by a smiling memory.
Things rapidly went downhill for Gavin's family, they didn't even have enough money to send him to school when he was old enough. Well, they may have if they weren't both achoholics by that time, and Gavin's mother didn't do drugs. They foten fought, Gavins's father blaming his mother for the child which brought them so low, his mother blaming the father for the same thing. When Gavin was 5, his father left, after hitting his mother in a drunken rage. As a result, his mother did drugs even more, and she as almost always stoned. Too stoned to go get more, so she sent Gavin along the dark alleyways to her dealers. Despite the dark taint that hung over him, Gavin refused to bow to it. At 9 he had black hair, which is always all over the place, dark brown eyes, and an innocent little adorable face. He wore crappy clothes, he only had the money he managed to sweet look off of people, but they were comftorable, and still fairly new. He was small for his age, and extremely skinny. He had a sweet personality, kind and caring, always concerned about everyone else exept him, and he was very timid. He was almost entirely self suffiencent, he could move from his mother's house if he wanted to, but he didn't. He was concerned about her, and tried to get her to quit drugs, he had managed to get her off of alchohol, by never getting more and hiding what she sometimes got. But the drugs was something she wouldn't back down on. He was never noticed by anyone, not when his father came home to beat his mother for odd reasons, not when he walked home from getting drugs, not ever. He was just a little kid no one cared about. He always wanted to be noticed, by someone. He was willing to do anything to get the attention that he craved, but it never happened. So life went on, until he was almost ten.
He was walking home from getting his mother the drugs, his pockets shamefully full, when two big thugs stopped him, grinned evil grins. "Lookie here, Lamar. We gots ourselves a kiddie with whats we want, right? Alright, kiddie, hand over the drugs, and we won't hurt you too bad." Gavin's brown eyes were wide with fright, and he backed up, into a trash can, causing a loud bang. The men cursed, and staretd to advance on him, when a shout stopped them. "OIY! UGLY! Didn't ya mothers ever tell ya ta be nice ta the little kids?" The men whirled around. "What are you talknig about, runt? You aren't much bigger than that kid, and you're gonna take us on?" "Feh, I'm far away, so I look smaller. ANd while I'm not the biggest kid, I'm gonna kick ya ***es, without even trying." The kid form the mouth of the alleway ran at the men, and got into a pitched street fight. It wasn't a long one, the kid was much too good for the men, and they were quickly beaten. Gavin stared at the kid, who walked over to him, and smiled. "Go home, kid." "But..... but why did you help me?" "Vanidar, he's the leader of the sector near this'un, asked me ta look out for ya. Ya walk into his to get the drugs, and he thought ya was awful small ta be walking by yaself. Now that's these two piles o' crap are down, I'll take care o' them, and ya can go home, and don't worry 'bout thugs. We gots ya covered, right kid?" "K-k-k-k-K." Gavin quickly walked home, amazed someone had noticed him.

However, when he went home, he found his druken father had come again, and was beating his mother, worse than normal. He was strenthened by the fact that this myterious Vanidar had noticed him, and he, being a kid, though he was invicible, he felt like he could stop this. So he attacked his Dad, trynig to get him to stop. This only turned his father's attention to him. He was thouroughly beaten, and he wailed in pain as bones were broken. What probaly saved his life was when his mother attacked Gavin's father, her motherly intincts taking over. The father finished his rough beating of Gavin's mother, and then left. Gavin pulled himself up, and checked his mother. She hadn't taken as much damage as he. He sighed, emptied his pockets of drugs, and started to painfully limp to the hospitle. When he got there, a dark figure pulled ihm into an alleyway, and whispered, "Hey kid, you look bad. Want some real power?" "What do you mean?" "I have here, a force, a powerful force that can make it so none will arm you again, and they sure will notice you." That pricked Gavin's bruised ears. "What do I do?" "You take this bottle, and drink it. It'll stay with you, but you have to find something to control this force with. Something simple, not too obviuos. And don't change how you act once the force takes hold, like a personality change. Don't. If you promise, I'll give this you." "Yeah, I'll be good, I promise!!!" The man gave him the bottle, then slipped away, leaving Gavin to stare. He unstoppered the bottle, and drank it's contents, hungry to be noticed again. It tasted awful, but was worth it as he felt the power rush through. He healed his wounds through this power, and laughing rather evily, walked back home, to find something to keep this power in. He knew that now. Some object had to keep the power in, or it would leak out. So he took a hanger, something no one would object or steal, and used it to harness and nuture his power. He became Hanger Boy, aka Gavin, an evil boy, whim used his power to chause Chaos, and people noticed him when he did these things. However, when he kept his eveil power in check, he reverted back to Gavin, an innocent boy, still so at heart. He started hanging out with the villians of the underworld, and thus life passed, until he was 11.
He caught a whiff that some of the truly great villains were gathering, and ran to meet with them. He ran into the building, the noticed that the dorr was blown off of it's hinges. "Oh wow, that can't be right. Now, who the heck did this? This is just disgraceful!" he pulled out his hanger, and with several sweeps, made the dorr stand up, then flew back to the hinges. However, he was standing in the way, adn was flattened in the process. He stood back up, and said, "Well, that's better! Now, why are you all here?" A guy, gavin knew fomr whispers on the street as Magno, said, "That would be none of your buisness!" He lifted a hand, and twisyed Gavin's hanger. He felt the power stirring, ready to jump out if it broke. He quickly grew enraged. "HEY! I JUST FIXED A DOOR AND YOU BEND MY HANGER!" He ran at the guy, and tackled him like a footbal player, shoulder first onto the guys stomach, then kneed him in the groin. Mango grunted, and stood back up, he lifted a hand, and threw Gavin across the room. He thudded against the wall, and stood up. "WHAT THE HELL! I am evil, and while I may not act it, I am! You know, if your so high and mighty that you don't need me, I'm outta here! I have things to do!" He ran out. Suddenly, blackness filled his vision, and he one he reconized as BlackStorm was in fton of him, yelling, "HALT!" Gavin stopped, skidding a halt. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT!" He furiouly worked at bending his hanger back onto shape, the power really wanted out right now. "I didn't do a thing to you, I just wanted to help! ANd look what you pal does, he ruins my hanger. I didn't go and pull off his mask, or anything like that! You aren't being fair!" "He thinks irrationally sometimes. Now put the hager away, i dont want to have to do anything to you, i just want to talk to you." Gavin glared. "What do you want?" "I want you to come back. With that little power of your you would be a great asset to our team." Gavin smirked. Little power. he would show him. He finished the repairs ot his hanger, and caused a small cyclone to swirl aorund him. "Let's get it on. What do you want me to do?" "Just follow me. Though you might not be used to this." BalckStar grabbed Gavin and pulled him into a black storm. It was really bumpy, but fast. He glared. "Easy on the goods, It'll be hard to tell mum why I ripped my shirt." Of course his mom wouldn't care, but they didn't need to know that. "Sorry. Now lets get down to buisness." Blackstar said. "Good. What do you want me to do?" Blackstar gestured to Magno, saying, "Magno, please explain our buisness." "I would be glad to. You see Gavin we are try to find a way to defeat DarkStar and everyone like him. With your little gift that you have you would be a great asset. Now, are you willing to help us?" Gavin nodded. "I can, but I have to go home sometimes. My mom dosn't care about me much, just as long as I check in every so often." He frowned, mostly because he hated how he had to lie to get people to think that she even cared a little, and he had a question. "I just have one question. Who is DarkStar? DO I get to beat him up? Does he have powers I should know about?" BlackStorm frowned back. "Unfortunatley thats our only problem. He has no powers but he is more powerfull than any of us. He has a special ability. He was trained in many different forms of martial arts and is a very good hider. But if you can catch him you can beat him." Gavin did a little exicted dance. This was going to be fun! And no power, he was going down! "Great! Where is he? My hanger'll make him work! I'd like to see him work over it. Does he have any little suprises I should know about? Like some freinds?" He grinned. "And I can catch him. I'm a kid! I can fit through places he never could!" "Dont get flowery you dont know that, he is good. He has no friends that i knowm of so far." Blackstorm replied. "Being cokcy is what being a kid as all about. So, what does he look like? And his favorite haunts?" "He looks basically like a black ninja." Gavin nodded. "I'm on it. And if he has any friends, I'm on them as well." He ran off, and ran smack into a trash can. He pulled himself up, and made some complicated gestures with his hanger. The trash floated back into the can, and the lid went back on. He sprinted off again.

Gavin looked everywhere. He knew almost every cranny in this town, and had connections, but he couldn't find the ninja. Suddeny, he had a brilliant idea. In the sewers! It was easy to get lost in that maze below the surface, but he knew it pretty well. "Maybe he's down below....maybe that's why they can't find him, they don't want to go below." He pulled a manhole, and climbed down. Gavin dropped the last couple feet, into the darkness. He twirled the hanger arond, it began spining on it's own. Light began to come from it, until he had a smal light, and pointed around. He lit up a shirtless 17 year old street kid. "Looks lke I'm not alone. What are you doing down here?" "Ain't ya nuts ta know, now, ya get up ta the surface now, afore I carry ya up." Yep. Definatly a street kid. He grinned evily. "You aren't carrying me. Now, why don't you sit down for a while." He reached out, and touched the floating hanger. Light filled the tunnel, and he swung the glowing hanger at Vanidar, realeasing his power towards him. He threw the kid against a wall, making him sit in the muck. Sudden;y, a shadoy figure moved, and Gavin was hit between where the head an neck met. It hurt, he fel to his knees, but his power stirred, adn he got back up, smileing. He used the power to create a wall of much, and twirled his hanger. it shot out, but the man whom he now reconized as DarkStar jumped, jumped! out of the swere, through the pen manhole, and avioded it. However, the street kid had no protection, and was hit. He passed out. Gavin growled, really getting mad. He sat down, biding his time. The street rat and the ninja must be together, if the ninja was really loyal to this scum, he would come back, and then Gavin would have him.He released his hold on the street kid, and he crumpled to the side. He was sitting camly, when onmitsu stars came whirling, and cut his hanger apart! THe power came roaring to life, much more powerful and tamed than when he had first recieved it. He was filled with rage, and suddenly, the power completly took over. It howled in rage. "You have me REALLY mad now. Forget all you know, I am different now! Cwer and fear, you have released the Hanger Boy from his Hanger, and now you will witness him unleashed!" He closed his eyes, and opened them again. They were now a completly black, with a red cicle in them. He had grown taller, more powerful, than the kid Gavin. The power laughed, and raised his hands. The manhole closed, and sealed shut. No one was coming out for a while. He did a back filp back, and grabbed the ninja, and threw him at the oppisite wall, using his power to make him hit harder. The ninja hit with a thump, then the street kid woke up, apperently hearing the last part. "Hanga Boy? What kinda crap name is that...." The power raised its hands, and he was knocked out again, crumpling to the side. The power searched his incouis mind, to indetifiy him. Vanidar. that name is familair.....but no matter. he is not my concern. The onmitsu spoke again. "You tell me to forget all that i know. Hah. I dont think so, you have not yet seen a taste of my full power and i will not even have to use my full power on you." The onmitsu's eyes turned balck, and he stood up. He flung his hand at Gavin's power and when his arm was going at a high speed and reached its full length he let go of the blue electricity ball in his hand. "RELEASE THAT BOY OF YOUR EVIL GRIP. HE HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG AND DOES NOIT DESERVE THIS. RELEASE HIM NOW OR I WILL USE MY FULL POTENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" A lughing stock. Really. Gavin's power laughed, as the ball split around him, and exploded on the wall. His back was burned and hit but this wasn't his concern, totally. "Gavin brought this upon himself! You know nothing about this!" His power faded a little, and Gavin's innocence came back to his face, and his remained like they were, eclipses. Whe he spoke it was Gavin's vioce. "I did! I am not scared, or regretful! I have power, and I am noticed this way! I am happy!" He let his power take over again. He shot a force wall at Darkstar. He did something that stopped the forse wall, and spoke again. This man spoke too much. "Give up this power and i can give you one greater than you could ever imagine. You have no idea, but if i were to release my full power on you right now you would most likely die." More lies, and more couse for laughter. But he didn't laugh. "What could you give me? I have all I want or need right here! It is your falut you unleshed me, you broke the means of controlling this!" The street kid he now knew as Vanidar woke up again. "Hey, kid, calm down, powers are nutsty. Ya can;t hide behind them forever." "YES I CAN!" "Kid, if I had a power, I wouldn't be down here, so why are ya? I don't get it!" "I am doing this so my employer will be happy!" "Kid, kid, ya got the wrong employers here. Ya are hired out by peple who want a 11 yeal old to kill? That's wrong, kid. Why are ya here, really now." He was here to kill. But his power started to leave. He lifted his chin defaintly, and and struggled to keep it from leaving. "Because you are noticing me, are't you?" "Hell yea, but I think if you walked up ta me and started talking, I would as well? Dosn't that work?" "AT home, no." Vanidar's face softened. What sector do ya live in, kid? Apartment building, and what room?" "Sector 111, Apartment building 20, room 723." The street kid winced. He winced? He must know about how it was there. He stood up and said, "DarkStar, ya hurt a hair on this poor souls head, I will have ta take ya out. This is a street thing, I don't think ya'll understand. Ya don't until ya go into that sector, into that apartment building, and see what's there. Kid, is ya last name Pecker?" How did he know? "Yea, what's that to you?" The kid hung his head. Wait, street kids were known for their cruelty! "DarkStar, this kid dosn't need a beating, he needs a friend, and I think that's what his power is. It's his only friend in this world, the only thing he can control in his life. Kid, let me out, I don;t wanna see this." How did he know? Street kids were stupid, not caring and smart! "You can't leave! You are in my power!" Vanidar looked up. "Power? WHat power? I don't see it in ya anymore." Gavni shook as he realized that his power had indeed left him, it felt like a huge gaping hole, and it was all this scum covered bastards fault. "YOU BASTARD! YOU STOLE IT! YOU TOOK IT! I HAD ONE THING, AND YOU HAD TO TAKE IT!" Gavin glared at the onmitsu. "YOU TOO! I WAS TOLD TO TAKE YOU OUT, AND TAHT"S WHAT I"M GOING TO DO!" Gavin ran at Vanidar, and punched and kicked as hard as he could. He was suddenly held up by a power, and lifted away.

The crummy onmitsu said, "I can give you a new power. One like mine. One that you dont need to control because it doesnt control you." Gavin started to sruggel, yelling, "I WANT MY POWER BACK! YOU STOLE IT FROM ME! I DON"T WANNA BE A NINJA, I WANNA BE HANGER BOY!" His power began to come back with his rage, and he broke the hold. He gritted his teeth in rage, and mustered his power, ready to release it, and thus get more back. He then noticed Vanidar standing dumbly there. hew as confused for second, then realized: This legendary street kid hated powers. It was a known fact. He must be stuck dumb to see a friend have one. It was also known he didn't make friends with people with powers. This onmitsu appartenly hide it from him. Vanidar's dark brown eye's darkened, and he ran in front of DarkStar. "Leave the kid alone! He dosn't dserve this, and if you lay one more finger, or even brush him with that nutsty power, I will have ta take you out. Nothing against ya, DarkStar, but this is how it is the street. Loyalty ta those in the gutter with ya." Gavi watched as he looked noble, even though gavin was sure he had forgotten what it was. It was an amazing sight. Street kids truly were an mystery to him, even though he was almost one himself. However, DarkStar apparently wasn;t impressed. He looked at vanidar with black eyes and said, "You have no idea how i grew up Vanidar. You may have had it worse or maybe the same. I see now that i am truely superior to you in every way. Can you not see that i am trying to help this boy. You wont even try to talk sense into him. You are to busy worrying about me hurting him when i had no intention of such a thing. I do not wan to hurt you but if you leave me no other choice i will. Now either you are with me or you are against me. I have not gotten by just on my power. This is recent, but because of my skill i have evolved it into what you see now. When i was young I learned the ways of the ninja and that was all that i had. Now i have more and i am proud of it. You will soon see what i can do for this boy. He will keep his power as the hanger boy but it will no longer be evil and he will no longer NEED the hanger to control it. He can control it with his own free will. I can help him and i will. Nothing is going to stop me." Gavin suddenly hoped that a fight between them didn't break out. He didn't want ot see Vanidar hurt. He was being so nice to him. It was looking bad when suddenly a dark form leapt at Vanidar, taking him to the ground. he then picked him up and threw him all the way across the tunnel. He then said, "That is for the other night." DarkStar looked at Grange. "You." he stood there in shock." You are the one who killed my parents. Now that we finally meet you will pay." DarkStar raised his hand and Grange lifted off the floor. He bent backwards and the cracking of his spine echoed throughout the sewer tunnels. He then flung Grange to the floor with a bone cracking thud. "That is just a taste of what is to become of you you demon bastard." Gavin stood there in shock. Did he look like that wehn he hurt people? Vanidar stood up, and Gavin turned his ttention to him when he started talking. "I'm trying to help this kid! Ya ain't got a clue on what he had ta go through. And ya, you might be some all mighty man now, ya are fogetting I ain;t got powers I'm helping him all I now how. And if ya remember, I ain't the best at relationships anymore. I'm helping this kid, and I ain't in need of ya ta help me. I will stop ya from using ya power on him. I can help him!" Gavin stood there, in shock. "You'll help me?" Vanidar turned around, smiling. " 'course, Dumb Ass. Ta the bitter end, man." To the bitter End...... in the street that meant until you were beaten until you passed out, and you fought to help until that blackness came. It was the highest calling of loyalty street kids had, and a hard one to follow since it wsn't easy to stick around and protect someone that long. "I'm not sure I want to be Hanger Boy anymore, but I want to be noticed by my parents." Vanidar's face hardened. "Trust me, kid. I'll smack ya bastard dad so hard, he won't ever bother ya or ya mom again." He went on his knees, and extended a hand. "We got a deal? You control Hanger Boy, or make him go away, and I make ya dad leave ya alone, and look out for ya." Gavin nodded, and ran to Vanidar, hugging him. He had never had help with anything before!! "Thank you! You'll really make my dad leave my mom alone?" "As long as ya make Hanger Boy leave ya alone." They both looked to DarkStar as he spoke. "You idiot. I never said that i was going to use my power on him. I just said that i wanted to help him and that i could give him a new power and if he doesnt want the power he doesnt need to have it i can still help him, too." He grinned at Vanidar. "No need to feel betrayed. Now, help me with this guy." The dark scary man lunged at Vanidar, teeth bared and hands ready for an attack.

Gavin watched, scared as the guy ran at Vanidar. But Vanidar knocked him back, and stood up, a determined look on his face. He fully took the hit so that Gavin wouldn't get hurt, and while he flew backwards, punched the guy in the stomach. Gavin knew that street kids knew where to punch, and always punch hard, but this guy shrugged it off like it was nothing. The Vanidar hit the ground, and quickly jumped back back. "I may not have nutsty powers, and I may not have brains," he glanced at DarkStar, then back at his opponent. "But Ive got something ya ain't! I've got soul, man, I've got soul! And it ain't the whole is my soul pure, but I've got heart! Heart is too wimpy in the street, so ya say ya got soul! Or in my case, I'm a hanis *****, but at least I'm one with soul!" He raised his fists to fight. Gavin couldn't help but giggle a little. But then the man punched Vanidar before he could react, and threw him up, so high he hit the ceiling of the sewers. He would have hit the gournd with bone crushing force if not for the onmitsu, whom stopped Vanidar's fall with his power, and floated him gently to the floor. "Get over yourself Vanidar. You are no better than i am. Now we can work together and be friends again and we can help this kid together or we can be mortal enemies. We can decied later, but for now lets get rid of this guy." Gavin watched Vanidar with concern, he was taking quite the beating, and he already looked messed up. But with a small groan Vanidar picked himself up. "Yeah, I'll work with ya, I don't think I'm any better then ya, but ya don't get what happened when ya used ya power. You don't understand. I'll explain later, after we rid ourselves of this sweetheart." Gavin nodded in agreement, though he was sure they had both forgotten about him, like everyone else always did. He then looked over, and saw a tall figure with an enourmously giant sword approach them. He looked at them all, and said to Vanidar, "Hey, Vanidar, what's up with this?" He suddenly looked eager. "You need help?" Apparently this guy knew Vanidar, which meant he couldn't be half-bad. Gavin racked his mind for an answer, and found one: Sanich. The half-crazy fight merchant. He was reputed to be really really strong, but Gavin wasn't sure it was true. He was awfully skinny looking, despite his tall-ness. Vanidar then shrugged. "Depends. Take out the freakish one." Sanich smiled. "That could be any and all of you. Which one?" Gavin giggled again, and Vanidar smiled grimly, pionting at Grange. "That one. Ya may even get a use ya zanza today, Sanich." Sanich brightened visibly. "You really think so?" "Maybe." But then Darkstar ruined the moment, and said, "I dont think so. You will never be able to take out this guy. The only way is through magic. Vanidar has none, but he is still helping. What i really need is hanger boys help." He worked his power, and threw Grange at Gavin's feet. Sanich shrugged at Vanidar. "Well, put it on my record that I wanted to help." Vanidar smiled and nodded. "I know what ya saying. So, Gavin, what ya want me ta do?" Gavin frowned in concentration, thiking about what he needed. "I need to get Hanger Boy back, so get me the pieces of my hanger." Vanidar nodded at Sanich. "I bet I can beat ya." He winced. "Don't hurt me too bad winning." Sanich laughed. "Not to worry, I fought you, it was pretty fun, I enjoyed it. But, let's get the hanger." They both scrambled for the pieces, and found them, and lay them at his feet, then stood up and backed away. Vanidar looked at Sanich with a lopsided grin. "This magic crap kinda loses me, what about ya" Sanich nodded in agreement. "Gave me a good fair fight anyday, but this? It's out of my league, and that's saying something." Gavin pushed the hanger peices in order close together, and called enough of the Hanger Boy to mend the hanger, and quickly called it to his full potentail, he was evil again, but he had a purpose other than killing everyone. "Now what?" The onmitsu smiled at Gavin, but it wasn't like Vanidar's smile, not even close. "Just kick his immortal vampire butt." Gavin grinned evily. "With pleasure." He smiled at Sanich. "You can help. Stand a little to the left, and clothesline him! You'll see." He used his power to left Grange, and sent him hurtling towards Sanich. Sanich extended one arm, and did more than clothesline, but punched Grange in the face, sending him flying back towards Gavin, who stepped aside as he flew past. "You are strong, your reputation is well earned!"

Sanich smiled. "Hey, thanks kid." He turned to Vanidar. "Well, as much fun as this is, I trust you can take over from here." Gavin looked up at the tall man. He was strong and Gavin was finding he would be very easy to look up to, but Vanidar was still taking presedence. "I geuss if me and Vanidar come out of this alive, we'll see you around." Sanich nodded. He grinned at Vanidar, thumping him on the back, almost knocking him over. "Don't you worry, Vanidar gets out of every scrape, right?" Vanidar nodded. "Yea, hey, I'll see ya around. Go kick some butt, and make some money, and give it ta me!" Sanich laughed. "Fat chance, I barely keep myself supported. How bout next time, huh?" "Sure." Sanich walked off. Gavin stared in amazement at the aku mark. "Why does his shirt say evil?" "I dunno. He's always worn it, and refuses to get a new shirt. It's odd, but it's Sanich." For some reason the onmitsu suddenly started laughing. He went into near hysterics, as Gavin and Vanidar puzzedly looked at him. Vanidar leaned over and whispered, "I think he's lost it." Gavin leaned over as well and whispered back, "No kidding. Hey, do you think Sanich will be ok? There was a lot of fighting today, and he missed out of most of it..... won't he be a bit mad?" "Oh, I'm sure he found his own fight up top." Gavin nodded and said, "Well, do you want to go now? Go and talk to my father?" He was starting to get excited now. Was Vanidar really going to help him like he had promised? Vanidar nodded, and led Gavin towards the light. The both stepped on the vampire thingy and climbed up the manhole. Gavin looked back down at the onmitsu and asked, "Will he be all right?" "Yep. If he needs to see me he'll show up."

They walked in silence, Gavin staring with huge eyes up at Vanidar. He still had no shirt, was filthy, but his eyes were still determined and bright. He had a grim look on his face. Gavin reached over, and tapped Vanidar on the arm asking, "Are you really going to make my dad stop?" Vanidar sighed saying, "For the last time yes! I can't stand ta see nuts holes like him pushin' 'round little kids." Gavin fell silent, and they walked through the streets until they reached Gavin's apartment building. Vanidar didn't even hesitate. He walked right up the creaky old stairs, to apartment 723.
The door was half open, and you could hear the sobbing cries of Gavin's mother as Gavin's father hit her, yelling incoherent things in his drunken rage. Vanidar didn't waste any time. He ran inside, and qiuckly took in the scene. The apartment was littered with drug rappers and the place was a mess. Gavin's mother was huggled in a corner, trying to make herself small as the dad hit her. Vanidar sprinted across the room, and caught him in a spectacular tackle, carrying the larger man to the ground. The man was stunned in his drunk state, and Vanidar jumped up, hauled the guy up, and slammed him against the wall. The man's eyes were glazed over, as Vanidar yelled at him. "What the hell ya doin, Pops? Huh? Ya da shizzle right now, I mean, it takes skill ta hit a stoned wife and little kid, right? Take a look around, Pops! This what ya want fo' ya son?" The guy shrugged, eyes still glazed. Vanidar rolled his eyes, and hit up against the side of the head, and he passed out. Vanidar dropped him disgust. Gavin nervously walked in, the old fear of his father coming back in full force. Vanidar ignored him and went over to his mother. He hauled her up, and made her look in his hard brown eyes. "And what the f**k do ya think yer doin'? Ya runnin' away! Lookit ya son!" He stepped aside, and the mother buried her hands into her face, sobbing 'no' hyterically. Vanidar made her look at Gavin yelling, "Lookit him! Lookit his clothes! That what ya want for yer son? Ya ignore what's know ya just as bad as him! Ya both need ta clean up ya acts! Got it?" She slowly nodded, and Vanidar let go. He casually brushed himself off saying, "Gavin'll take care of evurything, right man?" Gavin nodded. "Right!" Vanidar walked over to the man and manhauled him over his skinny shoulders. Gavin looked at him, confused until Vanidar elaborated on what he was doing. "Yer pop ain't gonna change easy. Neither's ya mom. I'll take care o' this jackass ya handle ya mom. We'll meet back in three weeks, see how we doin', right?" Gavin nodded, and Vanidar walked out. When he left Gavin started crying, not because he was sad, he was so grateful he couldn't it inside anymore. He walked over to his mom. She had collasped to her knees, leaning against a wall. Gavin laid a hand on her shoulder, not needing to go to his knees. "Hey mom? Will you please clean up? For me?" She nodded, and they both cryed in the dirty apartment.
~~~~THREE WEEKS LATER!~~~
Vanidar knocked on the door, Gavin's father in tow. He wasn't clean yet, but he had made an infinite amount of progress. After Vanidar had left he had dragged the drunk over to a rehabilition center and left him there. There he had gotten sober and stayed that way for almost the entire three weeks. His entire appearence had taken a turn for the better. He was clean shaven, clean, had proper clothes on, and just looked better. He knew he could easily be thrown in jail for abusing his wife and child and drinking like he did, but he was a truly sorry man. Vanidar knocked again, and Gavin opened the door. His dark eyes lit up when he say Vanidar, but it was nothing to when he saw his father. "Dad?" Gavin's father went to one knee. "Can you ever forgive me, son?" Gavin nodded, feeling the lump rise in his throat. He ran into his dad's arms, and they hugged for the first time in years. Vanidar used this opportunity to slip inside. The apartment was cleaner. The clutter was tidied up, the walls and floors were scrubbed. It was still a hell hole of a place to live in, though. Vanidar saw Gavin's mother sitting in the kitchen, reading a book. Van invited himself in and sat in the chair oppitsite the woman. She looked up, and Vanidar saw slight suprise and fear cross her eyes. "You're here....that means Gavin's father is here." Vanidar nodded. "He's better. Not perfect yet, but he's getting there. What about ya? The honest truth now." She sighed. "It's hard. It's so very hard. The rehab place says I'm making leaps and bounds, but I need to be careful. I don't want to relaspe." Vanidar grinned his cheesy grin. "That's awsome ta hear! So ya movin' out soon?" "What?" "Ya should move outta here. People've gots this place taked out as a good place ta get some drugs if they be desperate. Plus, ya should move outta this hell hole and make some new better memories than all the ones ya got here." She nodded slowly. "I'll talk it over with my husband." Vanidar stood up. "As long as ya talk about it, who cares? I geuss I'll be goin' then." He nodded at her and walked out the door. Gavin caught him as he walked by. "Won't you stay with us, Vanidar?" Van shook his head. "Can't. Got nutsloads o' stuff ta do. Plus, ya'll go fine kid. Ya ever need, just look. I'll find ya." He winked, and walked off.
A week later, Gavin's mom and dad were packing up the last of thier meager possessions. Gavin eagerly waited at the door. Father picked up the bags, and walked out the door, the Mother following. Gavin started to walk out the door when when she stopped and said, "Gavin! Your pictures on the wall. Aren't you going to take them? You love them so much." Gavin shook his head. "Naw, it's ok. We should take new ones anyways." They walked out the door of bad memories, and walked towards something new. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE END! Please don't kill me for having such a WEAK ending *sniffles*
