My favorite type of roleplay is a freeform with a little bit of a plot so we know which way we are headed. But I have played some really fun ones that we just kinda went for it. Sometimes those kind turn out quite well.

Mine was other, or more specifically, stats with a GM(s). It keeps people from being an almighty being, let's you have a definite view of your character's abilities and such. Though sometimes it can be bad, with a bad stat system, or evil dice. There really isn't a perfect way to go about RPing, everything has about equal pluses and minuses.

I don't think that I've ever played an rp with stats and a GM. I've seen it though, and it looks complicated. But I think the idea of fairplay.

I agree with both of you... my preference for role-playing material is pencil, dice and paper rather than keyboard, but my preference for storyline is a mixture of free and scripted -- so that you pretty much know where you're going, but don't feel smothered by the script.

I like freeform the best.
