I'm going to try something new on the forums, an RP thread using stats. It's going to use the Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game system by Decipher, Inc. The story takes place in the 4th Age, about 200 years after the War of the Ring. Yes, Tolkien did say that there wasn't much worth writing about in the 4th Age, but I'm going to take a bit of poetic license, as this is going to be a tale worth writing. Here are the basic "Rules" needed for the story to work, admittedly, they may seem confusing at first, but they are quite easy once you get adjusted to them.
When creating a character of your own, remember these few rules. Firstly, you may only be actual Tolkien races; Men (Normal and Dunedain), Hobbits, Elves (Sindarin or Silvan), or Dwarves. Second, you need to give me sufficient description of them, i.e: Name (I can make one up for you if you wish), Age, Height, Weight, Personality perks and flaws (Yes, these do affect the character's stats.), and most importantly their skills and abilities, as well as any equipment they may have. I will then send you a character sheet, which you will often have to refer to for different actions.
It would be appreciated if we got at least one Hobbit character, as the quest, as those before it in The Lord of The Rings, is centered around a Hobbit.
When posting for an action you will need to give me the level in a relevant skill, as well as any specialties you may have in it, here is an example:
Notice how I listed the specialties that Bremon had of the skill Intimidate. If relevant, specialties would give a bonus to rolls that I as the Narrator make. Such as in the example, Bremon was making a show of power, so he would receive a bonus from his specialty to Intimidate, Power. However, also in the example, he was not majestic or kingly, so his Specialty, Majesty, would not provide any bonus. It is still important to list any and all specialties you may have to a skill, as well as any other bonuses or penalties the character may have to a particular action, since ultimately the Narrator (Me) makes the decision on which specialty or bonus is relevant. If you are unsure which skill would be right for an action, feel free to PM me or talk to me on AIM.
The Narrator (Me) does all the behind the scenes dice rolls, plot twists, NPCs (Non-player characters), etcetera, and would then write out the results of actions, actions of NPCs, and whatnot. The story is going to be turn-based, though not strictly, only that you cannot post another action until the results of your last post's actions have been posted.
If you are interested, send me a PM with your Character and info.(required information listed above.)
This is kind of experimental, but I think it can really get some good results, and that it will be fun to do. It is a bit different than some of you may be used to, and may be confusing for a bit, but as before, I think it will be fun to do and shouldn't take long to get the hang of. I'm looking forward to seeing how this will end up.
Current Players:
Fallohide, as Bremon
Wren, as Brin
Red, as Red

Bremon stands his ground as he faces the men that now bar their passage. Staring into their malice-filled eyes, a fire burning from within his own. Slamming his staff to the ground with a loud crash like the boom of thunder, he cried out to them in a deep and resounding voice, "Servants of the Shadow! Your Dark Lord will not avail you! Flee while you are able, I shall spare not one that blocks our path!" He seemed taller as his voice echoed throughout the chamber, a bright light shining through the high windows, beaming about the now fearsome-looking old man. (Intimidate: Majesty, Power +4, Wizard's Staff: +1 Intimidate against servants of the Shadow.)
